Modi Khana Groceries – Return & Refund Policy
At Modi Khana Groceries, we are committed to providing our customers with high-quality grocery products and a satisfying shopping experience. This policy is in accordance with the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986.
Your Rights Under New Zealand Law Under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, you have the right to a remedy if a product we sell does not meet the following guarantees: it is of acceptable quality, it is fit for its intended purpose, it matches its description, and it is free from defects. These rights cannot be excluded or limited by us.
Eligibility for Returns We accept returns under the following conditions:
- The product is faulty, damaged, or not as described at the time of delivery.
- Perishable items (fresh produce, dairy, chilled goods) must be reported within 24 hours of delivery with photographic evidence.
- Non-perishable items may be returned within 7 days of purchase, provided they are unopened, in original packaging, and in resalable condition.
- Items that have been opened, partially consumed, or damaged due to misuse are not eligible for return unless they are genuinely faulty.
Change of Mind Returns We do not accept returns for change of mind on perishable or food items due to health and safety regulations. For non-perishable items, change of mind returns may be accepted at our discretion within 7 days, provided the item is unopened and in its original condition.
How to Request a Return To initiate a return, please contact us within the applicable timeframe:

We will assess your request and respond within 2–3 business days. Approved returns will be processed as a refund to your original payment method, a store credit, or a replacement product, at our discretion and in accordance with your legal entitlements.
Refund Processing Time Once a return is approved, refunds will be processed within 5–10 business days. The time for the refund to appear in your account may vary depending on your bank or payment provider.
Non-Returnable Items The following items cannot be returned unless they are faulty:
- Opened food and beverage products
- Perishable goods (unless reported within 24 hours)
- Items purchased on clearance or marked as final sale
- Gift cards
